mageXaris joined the Cursed Cult faction as one of the first summoner heroes in the game. With his summons, he can do great AoE damage which can briefly compete with Ingrid. Xaris is best used by deploying him in the field and withdrawing him repeatedly to optimize the damage from his ultimate. But he doesn't do any damage when there are no summons on the field making him only really suitable for bursts of damage.
